President Trump's first State of the Union address on Tuesday will likely focus on making the case for why now is the time for a "new American moment," according to excerpts of his speech released by the White House just hours before Trump was set to deliver it.
"We want every American to know the dignity of a hard day’s work; we want every child to be safe in their home at night, and we want every citizen to be proud of this land that we love," Trump will say in his address, according to the White House.
The president will highlight how the tax cuts he helped shepherd through Congress have revived the American dream for the middle class and raised wages for millions of workers across the country, the White House said.
"This is our New American Moment," Trump's speech text said. "There has never been a better time to start living the American dream."
"Americans love their country," the president is to say. "And they deserve a government that shows them the same love and loyalty in return."
