Former Obama campaign chief David Axelrod mistakenly referred to ammunition “clips” in a tweet promoting more gun control measures, earning mockery from gun owners.

“Newtown shooter fired 154 rounds in less than 5 mins,” Axelrod tweeted. “Yet limiting capacity of clips is off the table in Congress?”

Later Axelrod acknowledged he mistakenly used the word ‘clip’ when he should have said ‘magazine’ in his tweet and deleted it.

“I’ve enraged some gun folk by using ‘clips’ for magazines. (140 characters is challenging.)” Axelrod explained later. “So I’ll edit Tweet and resend. Point is same.”
