A woman who claims to have had a romantic relationship with Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore when she was only 17 and he was in his 30s is offering new evidence they knew each other, according to a report Monday.
Debbie Wesson Gibson, who claims to have publicly dated Moore for two to three months when she was a teenager, found a graduation card in one of her high school year books from the former Alabama judge, the Washington Post reports.
“Happy graduation Debbie,” the card reads. “I wanted to give you this card myself. I know that you’ll be a success in anything you do. Roy.”
Gibson is one of the nine women who have come forward to report that Moore pursued relationship with them while they were teenagers and he was in his 30s.
During a political rally on Nov. 27., Moore called the allegations that he pursued teenage girls, one as young as 14, "completely false" and specifically said he "did not know any of these women."
On Nov. 29, Alabama U.S. Senate candidate once again denied the reports. "Let me state once again: I do not know any of these women, did not date any of these women, and have not engaged in any sexual misconduct with anyone,” Moore was quoted as saying at a rally in Theodore, Ala.
Gibson told the Post she found the yearbook and at first was not sure if she was going to go public with it, but after hearing Moore call her a "liar" from a pulpit, she reached out to reporters.
"Roy Moore made an egregious mistake to attack that one thing — my integrity,” Gibson said.
Gibson reiterated that she is not and has never accused Moore of sexual misconduct.
"He did not perpetrate sexual misconduct toward me, nor have I ever claimed that, but I now know for sure that he is a liar," she said.
The Washington Post reported the initial accusations against Moore last month. In the first report, four women, including Leigh Corfman who was 14 years old at the time, accused Moore of pursuing sexual and romantic relations with them when they were between the ages of 14 and 18, while he was in his 30s. Other women have come forward with additional allegations since then.
