Tossing around QB possibilities for Redskins

Two excerpts from John Keim’s Redskins Report, which is emailed every Friday: » The Redskins coaches will benefit from their work at the Senior Bowl this week, getting a chance to coach potential draft picks. But at least one scout said it’s a shame there’s one guy they won’t get to coach: Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

“He’s a tough guy,” the scout said. “He’s not a [complainer] despite backing up a guy he was light years ahead of as a quarterback. He just did his job and worked hard. All those things together will be very enticing for the Redskins. The more you watch him, the thing that gets you excited is that he is this good and he’s only been playing quarterback a short time.”

» Here’s a scout’s take on Green Bay free agent quarterback Matt Flynn, after seeing him in a practice each of the past two summers: “There was virtually no difference in the accuracy or productivity of the offense [compared to Aaron Rodgers]. I was blown away by the guy because I had such low expectations. I was amazed at how good he looked, how in command and he’s a mobile guy. He was not as impressive [last summer], but he was still good. I think he’s a Rich Gannon type. He has a good arm, not a great arm. Arm strength is one of the most overrated aspects of a quarterback. I’d just go pay him and stop messing around with Rex [Grossman]. I’d use the draft pick for another position.”
