Friday Night Eclectic at Strathmore Friday
This Friday, the Strathmore in Bethesda kicks off the fourth year of its Friday Night Eclectic series, presenting a wide range of local music acts and more each weekend.
“The idea was to create a venue for artists to perform in Montgomery County,” said Georgina Javor, creator and curator of Friday Night Eclectic.
Javor said that the goal of Friday Night Eclectic is to present a creative, collaborative space at Strathmore. Each week presents a collection of music from indie to hip-hop to jazz, as well as performance art, gallery shows and more.
“We’re looking for peopling looking for a more creative experience,” Javor said. “It’s really for people to try something new each week. ”
This Friday’s show is headlined by local indie act Bellflur, who is celebrating the release of its new album “Twelve Vagrant Monologues from the Last Living Star.” The evening will also include performances by ExitClov, Typefighter, BearShark, HundredHundred, the Echo Wall and the Ten Thousand. In addition to the music, and adding to the eclectic nature of the show, there will be performances by the Beth Elliot Dance Group and Grain of Sand Theatre and various art presentations.
Each week Friday Night Eclectic will be different, running through the end of April.
Javor likened each week’s Friday Night Eclectic like a little, indoor festival.
“It’s our most ambitious lineup,” she said.
