Anti-Trump Republican amplifies false claim that Fox News will not air Mueller testimony

Republican political consultant Rick Wilson, appearing Monday on MSNBC, repeated a circulating false claim that Fox News will not air special counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony live.

“Fox isn’t covering the hearings,” Wilson said. “How scared they are of what could happen on this morning. It’s going to be a very interesting and consequential moment. They’re apparently not going to take them live. Everybody else is taking them live.”

Wilson soon corrected himself on Twitter, writing, “I stand corrected: Fox apparently will cover the Mueller hearings. The MAGA Javerts were all aflutter.”

Former U.S. attorney under President Barack Obama, Joyce White Vance, deleted a tweet Sunday that claimed the network wouldn’t be covering the testimony.

“Fox isn’t showing Mueller’s testimony Wednesday. Trump is afraid of what will happen if his base gets to hear Mueller’s testimony for themselves,” Vance tweeted, before quickly deleting it.

Vance later claimed the tweet was meant to be ironic and apologized “to anyone I confused.”

Author and Trump critic Stephen King also falsely claimed Fox News wouldn’t cover the testimony, to which Fox News anchor Bret Baier responded, “Sorry you missed the promos. Thanks.”

Mueller is slated to testify before the House Judiciary and Intelligence committees on Wednesday, where he will discuss his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
