TROY, Mich. (AP) — Groundbreaking is planned this week for a federally funded $6.3 million regional transit center in the Detroit suburb of Troy.

The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News report a ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday morning. The update on the scaled-down project follows years of debate on the project, which was opposed by former Mayor Janice Daniels. The tea party favorite was recalled in the Nov. 6 election.
