Over the weekend, Glenn Beck released his own American made jeans line called 1791 Denim. After discovering last year that many popular denim brands actually manufacture their jeans overseas, Beck decided to develop his own line of jeans and other clothing that are completely made in America.
The problem with 1791 jeans? While Americans may want to buy American made jeans, they may not be able to afford them. Each pair of 1791 jeans will set an American consumer back $129.99. But the profits will go entirely to a humanitarian effort dedicated to helping struggling Americans.
On Monday, Beck’s jeans became available in a limited supply of standard 34 length and come in a classic western style. All 1791 jeans are spun at Cone Denim Mills in Greensboro, North Carolina, after which they are cut and sewn at a factory in Kentucky.
Despite the jeans’ price and limited release, Beck’s line nevertheless gives Americans the opportunity to keep their money in U.S. industries. Moreover, the money made by the denim line will all go toward funding for Beck’s Mercury One philanthropic organization, which seeks to restore America from a “neighbors help neighbors” perspective.
The promotional video for 1791 is narrated by Beck and ties the creation of the denim line directly to the goal of helping and supporting America.
