Close ties with clients guide Weinberg Harris

When making your start in public relations, it helps to have a background in media.

That background proved to be an asset to Greg Harris, partner at Weinberg Harris & Associates, when he met Tracey Weinberg and launched the agency in 1991.

“We started the agency with a strong ability to do media relations,” said Harris, who got his start in the newsroom of WJZ-TV Channel 13. “That has evolved in terms of doing other areas of communications for our clients.”

Today, the agency employs eight public relations specialists and boasts more than 20 clients. Harris declined to reveal the amount of the company?s annual billings.

He calls the agency a “strategic public relations” firm that has made a niche for itself by the close nature of its client relationships.

“When people think of Weinberg Harris, they think of an agency that really does become a partner in terms of creating marketing programs for companies,” Harris said. “The philosophy that guides our agency is getting to know our clients? business and to work closely with their business strategy and what they are trying to create. We then put together all the communications disciplines we need to to help them reach their goal.”

Harris said that the agency?s top clients include the Ritz-Carlton Residences and Harborplace & the Gallery. The agency recently began project work for Silver Cos., based in Boca Raton, Fla., to develop “Celebrate Virginia” in Fredericksburg, Va.
