DC Comics will feature Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, and other “real-world heroes” in a new graphic novel.
“Wonder Woman has been an inspiration for decades, and while not everyone would choose her star-spangled outfit for themselves, her compassion and fairness are worthy of emulation. We’ll be presenting tales of the real-world heroes who take up Diana’s mantle and work in the fields of science, social justice activism, diplomacy and more!” DC Comics’s website states.
The new book will hit shelves just before Christmas and will feature 18 women, such as Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Rashida Tlaib, Beyonce, Emma Gonzalez. No conservative women are among those listed.
“Beyonce, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Serena Williams, and more will be spotlighted by DC as in the upcoming anthology ‘Wonder Women of History.’ Taking a cue from its popular superhero Wonder Woman, DC will spotlight 17 real-world heroes in the fields of science, social justice activism, politics, sports, and entertainment,” Games Radar reported.
The team behind the book consists of all women and is lead by New York Times best-selling author Laurie Halse Anderson.
Conservative-leaning actor James Woods took note of the announcement on Twitter, slamming the entertainment industry for sidelining half of the U.S. population by focusing only on liberal women.
“Amazing that the entertainment industry completely disregards and in fact disrespects the political beliefs of half the nation,” Woods tweeted.
