What’s not surprising? Courtney Love being late and a mess for her 9:30 Club performance Sunday night here in Washington. What is surprising? That she tried to blame her tardiness on a member of Congress.
An hour after Love was supposed to show up, the 45-year-old songstress pranced onstage and explained that she was late because she was with a “senator friend” before beginning a bizarre three-hour-long show.
“She rambled on between songs, took requests, invited audience members up onstage, borrowed a bra, said she would give someone her $200 panties after the show, was confused by the set list and wouldn’t answer the question about whether or not [George] Clooney is gay,” one patron described to Gawker.
At this point, nobody in Congress is fessing up to spending time with Kurt Cobain’s ex.
Yeas & Nays reached out to Sens. Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein from Love’s home state of California and also Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., because of his ties to Hollywood. None met with the star. Her publicist did not respond by press time.
