If you’re a VIP woman in Washington, you’ve probably gotten an invite to one of Rima Al-Sabah’s baby showers this week.

She and her husband, Kuwaiti Ambassador Salem Al-Sabah, are expecting their fourth child next month, and Mrs. Al-Sabah, one of the city’s most visible hostesses, has been feted at three events this week.

On Saturday, former Ambassador to the United Nations Esther Coopersmith hosted a shower at her home. Co-hosts included Cabinet wives Edi Gutierrez and Marcia Jackson, General Motors Foundation President Debbie Dingell, former Assistant Surgeon General Susan Blumenthal and Grace Bender.

Joining them as guests were NBC’s Norah O’Donnell (herself a recent mom), CNN’s Andrea Koppel, Marriott’s Kathleen Matthews, Diana Negroponte (wife of Deputy Secretary of State John), Martha-Ann Alito (wife of Justice Samuel)and Rhoda Glickman (wife of MPAA head Dan).

Channel 4 anchorwoman Barbara Harrison hosted another event Wednesday at her home at which first lady Laura Bush, still recovering from surgery, dropped by long enough to leave a gift and say hello.

And on Friday, comedian Ali Wentworth and Washington Life Editor Nancy Bagley are hosting yet another baby shower.

One thing’s for sure: The baby’s going to be well-outfitted.
