Memo from Fairfax Police: Please don’t read this while driving

If the numbers are any indication, Fairfax County Police are on the lookout for you, Lipstick Applyer, and you, Angry Birds Player, and especially you, Freqnt Txtr.

More than 9,000 people were ticketed in the county last year for distracted driving, up a whopping 240 percent from the 2,500 citations issued in 2006, according to WTOP. (Sweet 2006 — the Dark Ages prior to the advent of the iPhone, the iPad, and other iDistractors.)

The police department launched a campaign in September to bring attention to distracted driving, likely leading to the increase in fines, and in driver-side cursing.
