Trump set to announce running mate Friday

Donald Trump will announce his running mate Friday during a press conference in Manhattan, the GOP candidate announced on Twitter Wednesday evening.


The presumptive GOP nominee’s short list of vice presidential picks include N.J. Gov. Chris Christie, Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.

Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort had told CNN Wednesday evening that Trump would make his announcement Friday in New York.

The hype surrounding Trump’s pick has been a trending topic over the past few weeks. The billionaire businessman has repeatedly met with the five remaining veep candidates on numerous occasions, including rallying with each of them at various national events.

Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton is set to pick her running mate next week as the Republican convention is one week before the Democrats’ event. Clinton has kept details about her decision-making process locked down, telling reporters she is considering her options with a team of advisers and lawyers.
