Mark Hamill wants to replace Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Actor Mark Hamill wants President Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame replaced with one for Carrie Fisher.

Hamill, famous for his role as Luke Skywalker in the “Star Wars” series, made the statement on Tuesday. The actor tweeted out an article on the West Hollywood City Council’s vote last year calling for Trump’s star to be removed.

“Good riddance! (and I know just who should replace him….) #AstarForCarrie,” Hamill said.

Fisher, who died in December 2016 at age 60, co-starred with Hamill in the “Star Wars” saga as Princess Leia Organa, Luke’s sister.

Trump’s Hollywood star has been targeted several times by vandals attempting to make a statement against the U.S. commander in chief. Some protesters have defaced the star with graffiti while others have used tools such as sledgehammers to break the star apart.

In 2016, an artist erected a 6-inch wall around the star to protest Trump’s immigration policies and plans to install a wall on the U.S. southern border. In July 2018, police arrested a man for destroying the star with a pickax. In December, Trump’s star was covered in swastikas twice in one day.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which owns the Hollywood Walk of Fame, has said Trump’s star will not be removed despite calls by numerous celebrities to do so.
