Civil rights site returns to St. Augustine home

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (AP) — A 1960s civil rights era landmark is returning to its St. Augustine roots.

The Woolworth’s counter where four African-American teenagers were arrested after attempting to order Cokes and hamburgers in 1963 will be on display in the downtown Wells Fargo Bank. The site marks the former home of the Woolworths where the teens protested the all-white lunch counter. The group served six months in jail for refusing to move and became known as the “The St. Augustine Four.”
