Former President George H.W. Bush was hospitalized shortly after attending the funeral of wife and former first lady Barbara Bush, according to a spokesman.
“President Bush was admitted to the Houston Methodist Hospital [Sunday] morning after contracting an infection that spread to his blood,” spokesman Jim McGrath, wrote in a statement.
“He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering,” McGrath continued.

Barbara Bush died Tuesday at the age of 92 after a year-long battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and congestive heart failure.
Her funeral was held at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas, Saturday.
