DNC chair refuses to articulate the difference between a Democrat and a socialist

Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz has now been asked twice to explain the difference between Democrats and socialists–and twice she has declined to do so.

Chris Matthews first asked Schultz to explain the difference, since Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is a self-avowed socialist. In a painfully awkward clip, Schultz stammered and avoided the question.

On Sunday’s Meet the Press, Chuck Todd gave her another chance.

“Given that Bernie Sanders is an unabashed socialist…what is the difference?” Todd asked.

“You know, Chuck, it’s always fun to be interviewed by Chris Matthews, and I know that he enjoys that banter,” she replied. “The important distinction that I think we’re going to be discussing is the difference between Democrats and Republicans.”
