The regional cooperative purchase of electricity has saved taxpayers $10 million over the last year, the Baltimore County Metropolitan Council announced Monday.
The organization?s cooperative purchasing committee began buying wholesale electricity at fixed rates for Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Howard, Carroll, Harford and Baltimore counties in June 2006, and officials said they plan to expand the strategy to natural gas.
