Craft beer brewing grows in Livingston County

HOWELL, Mich. (AP) — Livingston County is becoming a hotbed for craft beer.

The Livingston County Daily Press & Argus reports (http://bit.ly/1rgPlAx ) that Brewery Becker has opened in Brighton, Eternity Brewing Co. is under construction in Genoa Township and the Shark Club in Howell plans to revamp the restaurant and bar into a brew pub called the Block Brewing Co.

They are joining a crowded field in the state. The Colorado-based Brewers Association ranked Michigan 14th last year in number of breweries at about 150 last year. Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs records show 58 brewery and microbrewery licenses pending in the state.

Meanwhile, Howell residents Troy Hinds and Ryan Dickey say they plan to launch Hoppedup.com. The site that will cover the trade starting in the next few months.
