President Trump will stop in Ireland next month for the first time as president, according to the White House.
Trump and first lady Melania Trump have accepted Irish leader Leo Varadkar’s initiation to visit and Trump and Varadkar will be holding a bilateral meeting in Shannon, Ireland, on June 5.
Trump will already be in Europe to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day, when Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy, France, during World War II. While in Europe, Trump will spend three days in the United Kingdom and will travel to Normandy on June 6.
Varadkar was visited the U.S. in March for the White House’s annual Shamrock Bowl. Trump had previously planned to visit Ireland in November but canceled the trip.
During his last trip to the United Kingdom, Trump faced protests and is expected to encounter more demonstrators during his June visit. While there, he is expected to meet with British Prime Minister Theresa May.
