Presidential candidate Kamala Harris said during an all-night CNN town hall event Wednesday that she supports the Senate ending the filibuster to “pass a Green New Deal.”
Harris had previous equivocated over whether she would favor ending the filibuster to overcome Republican opposition and pass aggressive legislation to combat climate change.
She joins Elizabeth Warren, who was the only candidate still in the race to favor killing the filibuster. Front-runner Joe Biden and fellow Sen. Bernie Sanders want to keep the filibuster.
Nixing the filibuster would allow the Senate to pass legislation with a simple majority, rather than a 60-vote minimum.
