Chaffetz: No evidence of Trump’s voter fraud

PHILADELPHIA—House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, said his panel will not probe President Trump’s allegations that there was massive voter fraud during November’s elections.

“I don’t see any evidence,” Chaffetz told reporters during a break from the GOP retreat here. “But the president has 100,000 people at the Department of Justice that if he wants to do an investigation—have at it. I just don’t see any evidence of it.

“The Oversight Committee is not planning to do anything with it,” he continued. “If the president sees that, he’s got 100,000 people he can task with doing it. That’s his decision to make.”

When asked if Chaffetz would try to squash any Trump-initiated probe because he would consider it a waste of taxpayer money, he demurred. “I’m kinda giving you my position on it. It’s not something we’re pursuing,” he answered.

“I’m not planning on spending resources on it,” Chaffetz added.
