Ann Coulter isn’t too confident in her acting prowess.
The conservative commentator, who will play the U.S. vice president to Mark Cuban’s commander in chief in the forthcoming television flick Sharknado 3, confessed to The Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview that she’s as bad an actress as Lena Dunham.
“I think I’m as good an actor as Lena Dunham, so no,” Coulter replied when asked if she performs well on screen.
Despite her dearth of skills in the field, Coulter nevertheless claimed to have been “acting for years.”
“I always act surprised when Marco Rubio says something stupid,” she clarified. “My greatest acting performance was pretending to enjoy the movie Selma.”
According to Coulter, her scenes for the film — which takes place in part in Washington, D.C., and premiers on the SyFy Channel on July 22 — were shot at Sea World.
Coulter said sarcastically that she succeeded in converting just one of the sharks to the Libertarian Party during filming.
“That wasn’t what I was going for, but it’s a start anyway,” she added. “The rest of them pretty much cowered in my presence. Some of them bowed.”
Coulter confirmed that — spoiler alert! — her character perishes in the film, which, apparently, is a detail at which liberals are rejoicing.
“Let’s face it, a fake movie is the only way they could get rid of me,” Coulter quipped.
Though she unsurprisingly doesn’t have much regard for liberal Hollywood — “We should deport Michael Moore,” Coulter suggested — she did commend actor Vince Vaughn for his “passionate defense of our Second Amendment rights” which he aired during an interview with British GQ a few weeks ago.
In the TV movie, Coulter and Cuban are surrounded by several celebrities from Hollywood and Washington. The individuals making appearances in the third installment of Sharknado include: Bo Derek, Jerry Springer, Chris Jericho, Chris Kirkpatrick of ‘N SYNC, Michele Bachmann and David Hasselhoff, among others.
