AOC repeatedly coughs into air on livestream after removing coronavirus mask

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez repeatedly coughed into the air while her coronavirus medical mask was off during a social media livestream with followers.

On Saturday, Ocasio-Cortez took to Instagram Live while on a walk to convey her thoughts about the recent, nationwide protests but coughed repeatedly into the air without wearing a coronavirus medical mask.

“If you want the end of unrest, then you should be asking for measures that actually liberate people in their lives from the oppression of economic and social inequity,” AOC said before looking off-camera to cough.

“I can’t with folks that are saying, ‘We need to stop this unrest, we need to stop violence,’ as though charging someone $1000 a month for insulin that they need to survive isn’t violent. That is violent. Allowing people to die in these systems is just wrong,” she also said, advocating for universal healthcare.

Protests in the city of Minneapolis began Tuesday after the footage of George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, circulated on social media and eventually erupted into violence. Floyd was pinned by the neck for approximately eight minutes until he became unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
