NBA star Dirk Nowitzki did his best Donald Trump impression in an effort to drum up fan votes for the 2016 NBA All-Star game.
The 50-second video is called “Dirk, Making America Great!,” a clear homage to the billionaire mogul’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.” The Dallas Mavericks star pulled out all the stops for his Trump bit, including a blonde wig reminiscent of The Donald’s style, a red tie over a Mavericks jersey and Trump’s classic catchphrase: “This is gonna be huge!”
“I make literally billions and billions of baskets,” Nowitzki says with highlights of his NBA exploits playing in the background. “I’m gonna score so many points, it’ll make your head spin. I know how to win an NBA title, believe me.” Nowitzki and the Mavericks earned an NBA title in 2011 after defeating the Miami Heat.
The German-born Nowitzki, who at one point says facetiously says, “I’m a real American, trust me,” suppresses his naturally thick accent and attempts his best Trump voice.
“Mavs fans, we need to build a wall. A wall of noise!” Nowitzki said, parodying Trump’s call to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.
