Editorial: Free speech for me but not for thee?

We?re guessing that paying for a gay porn director to speak at Johns Hopkins University is not how most parents would like their tuition money spent. It?s certainly not something JHU officials want to publicize. They removed hundreds of copies of the conservative student-run newspaper, The Carrollton Record, from dorms with a May cover story questioning why the school allowed Chi Chi LaRue to come to the school. The published reason: a school “policy” that only the official student newspaper, the JHU News-Letter, can be distributed in dorms. Funny that copies of The Donkey, associated with the Democratic Club, are allowed. A better option than squashing dissenting voices would be for JHU to exercise better judgment in choosing campus visitors.
