George H.W. Bush on Roger Ailes death: ‘Not sure I would have been president’ without him

Former President George H.W. Bush on Thursday paid tribute to Roger Ailes, the founder of Fox News, who acted as a political consultant to Bush and other Republican presidents.

“He wasn’t perfect, but Roger Ailes was my friend and I loved him,” Bush wrote Thursday on Twitter. “Not sure I would have been President without his great talent, loyal help. RIP.”

Ailes, who was ousted as the head of Fox News last summer after a series of sexual harassment allegations, died earlier in the morning. He was 77.
