Lawyer admits laundering cash for meth ring

A New York lawyer pleaded guilty to laundering cash for a large Arlington-based crystal meth ring. Brian Chase Malady, 42, admitted Friday to holding the meth ring’s profits and siphoning $55,000 to pay legal fees for a ring member. Prosecutors say the ring regularly received 5- to 7-pound shipments of the drug from Atlanta and distributed it across the Washington region. Malady faces up to 20 years in prison.

Trial of accused con man nears end

Closing arguments are set to begin Monday in the trial of Roger Greenberg, who is accused of stealing $112,000 from his 84-year-old former wife. Authorities say Greenberg, 68, conned Evelyn Zucker into marrying him and then took her money. Zucker has been ruled incompetent, and their marriage has been annulled.
