Memorial set for slain American U. professor

A memorial service for Sue Ann Marcum, an American University accounting professor killed this week in her Bethesda home, will take place Nov. 9.

The service will take place at 8 p.m. in Bender Arena, located at 4400 Massachusetts Ave. NW, according to the university.

No arrests have been made in Marcum’s death. Police say she was beaten and strangled and there were signs of forced entry at her home.

Deandrew Hamlin, an 18-year-old identified by sources as a ward of the District’s juvenile justice agency, was arrested driving Marcum’s Jeep Cherokee late Monday night. He has been charged in D.C. with unauthorized use of a vehicle and Montgomery County police say he is a suspect in Marcum’s slaying.
