Segel out as writer for ‘Muppets’ sequel

The show must go on.

Vulture is reporting that “How I Met Your Mother” star Jason Segel will not be returning as a writer for a sequeal to “The Muppets.” A source told the Vulture that Segal, who starred in the first film alongside Amy Adams, is too busy with the eigth season of “How I Met Your Mother” as well as promoting his upcoming movies “The Five-Year Engagement” and “This Is Forty,” to take part in penning the sequel. Instead, “The Muppets” co-writer Nicholas Stoller and director James Bobin will write it.

The insiders told Vulture that there was a good chance Segel would still star in the sequel.
