Mark Udall struggles to think of his favorite books

Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.) seemed a bit rattled in his recent interview with ABC 7 News.

“Is Common Core good or bad for Colorado students?” an interviewer asked during a round of ten questions.

“Yes,” Udall replied.

Udall was then asked to name three of the most influential books in his life and the last song he listened to.

“Profiles in Courage…” he began, but then paused.

“Let me think. We can play this over, right? Let me re-tape this,” Udall asked.

His interviewer stalled and asked to go back to the song question.

“Um, I’m brain-dead today,” Udall apologized.

Eventually he rallied and mustered up an answer: “Let me catch my thought here. So, In the Kingdom of Ice, Profiles in Courage, and Centennial, Michener’s great book about Colorado…I love Shawn Colvin’s song about avalanches because it’s appropriate to Colorado.”

Udall is in a tight race with his Republican opponent, Rep. Cory Gardner.
