Kathy Griffin chides ABC for asking ‘what were you thinking?’ with bloody, severed Trump head photo

Comedian Kathy Griffin chided ABC when asked what her mindset was when she posed for a promotional photo last year with a fake bloodied, severed head that resembled President Trump.

In a sit-down interview with “Nightline,” co-anchor Dan Harris asked Griffin, “what were you thinking?”, referring to the widely condemned stunt.

“Really?” Griffin replied. “Can’t you have a different question that I’ve been asked for a year and a half? You’re ABC. Act like it.”

Griffin repeated that it is a question she gets “every time,” but that didn’t stop Harris then pressing her again on it.

This time she obliged, listing “two things,” which included wanting to shame Trump, whom she said she refers to as “it,” and putting together a “send-up” that hearkened back to Trump saying about then-Fox News host Meghan Kelly during the 2016 campaign that there was “blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever” in a debate.

The interview will air in full Tuesday evening.

Griffin, who has been actively critical of Trump and his family on Twitter, initially apologized for the photo amid intense backlash, but in April declared she was taking that apology back. She is now moving on with her no-so-subtly named “Laugh Your Head Off World Tour.”
