More than 40 stabbed inside home for disabled in Tokyo

Nineteen people were killed and two dozen others injured early Tuesday after a man stabbed more than 40 disabled people at an assisted-living facility near Tokyo, NKH reported.

Police in Sagaihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, say the assailant is in his 20s and turned himself in following the incident.

Staff members of the Tsukui Yamayuri Garden facility called police around 2:30 a.m. local time to report a knife-yielding man on the property.

A witness told Asahi Shimbun the man said during the attack, “I want to get rid of the disabled from this world.”
