Trump claims ‘massive victory’ in Florida

Mere minutes after most of the polls closed in Florida, Donald Trump claimed that he won a “massive victory” in the state Tuesday night over Sen. Marco Rubio.

In a tweet, Trump boasted that he would be the victor in Florida despite a cadre of “phony ads” that hit him over the past week. Most of the ads have come from anti-Trump super PAC’s, with Trump being outspent 8-1 on the airwaves.

Trump led the primary vote in the earliest returns.

Heading into the night, Trump held a substantial lead over Rubio in Sunshine State polls. Trump owns multiple properties in the state. According to the latest RealClearPolitics average, Trump topped Rubio by 18.3 percent, holding 43 percent to Rubio’s 24.7 percent.
