A driver who crashed his car into a telephone pole Friday and injured his passenger has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
Passenger Daniel Morrison, 33, of Laurel, was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he remains in serious but stable condition,said Howard County police.
Driver Jonathan Bents, 27, of Pasadena, was not injured after he crashed his 1998 Mazda 626 into a telephone pole on Route 1 near Guilford Road at about 1 a.m.
Bents also has been charged with driving while impaired and causing serious injury to another person while under the influence of alcohol.
The Traffic Enforcement Section is conducting an investigation.
