DNC slaps Trump: 8,000 ‘lies, his SOTU is no different’

Even before President Trump opened his second State of the Union Address Tuesday night, the Democratic National Committee said the speech was a lie.

“Trump Built His Presidency On Lies, His SOTU Is No Different,” headlined an email sent out as the president was walking to the podium in the House.

“Trump has repeatedly and blatantly lied to the American people over and over again, tonight, his State of the Union address is no different,” said the email.

In it, the party cited Washington Post fact checking in totaling up his “lies.”

The email concluded:

Trump’s record of blatant dishonesty is unprecedented: He has lied to the American people more than 8,000 times in his first two years, an average of more than 15 times per day last year.

The majority of Americans say they trust Trump less than previous presidents, and fewer than 3 in 10 Americans believe the president’s most common lies.

Trump’s lies aren’t innocent exaggerations. Trump has used misleading statistics to stoke fear about a manufactured crisis at the border, and has even lied directly to our active-duty service members and our nation’s veterans.
