Joe Walsh tears into Republicans for lacking ‘courage and the decency” to tell Trump to lay off Mueller

Former congressman and conservative radio host Joe Walsh questioned on Saturday whether his fellow Republicans have “the courage and the decency” to take action against President Trump after former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe was fired and Trump’s lawyer indicated special counsel Robert Mueller should be next.

“Make no mistake: This is President Trump calling for the Mueller Investigation to be shut down. It’s terribly wrong for him to do so, its obstruction of justice for Trump to call for Mueller to be shut down, and if Trump shuts Mueller down, he should be impeached immediately,” Walsh tweeted in response to a Daily Beast report that said Trump’s personal lawyer, John Dowd, hoped Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein would follow the example set by his boss Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who terminated McCabe’s employment Friday, and fire Mueller next.

The Daily Beast report he was reacting to originally said Down indicated he was speaking on Trump’s behalf, but Dowd later clarified that was speaking on behalf of himself and not for the president. Still, Walsh continued with his attacks on the remarks and the GOP throughout the day.

“The President of the United States this morning called for the Special Counsel to be shut down,” said on tweet.

“Is there not one Republican in Washington, DC who has the courage and the decency to publicly tell the President of the United States to leave Robert Mueller alone? Not one?” another tweet said.

Rosenstein is overseeing Mueller’s Russia inquiry after Sessions recused himself.

While Dowd’s comments got a significant amount of backlash from Democrats, Walsh tore into Republicans for largely staying silent on the news.

“I railed against Obama whenever he acted like a king and exceeded the powers of his office,” he wrote. “Damn near every Republican joined me in railing against Obama. I rail against Trump when he does the same. Like this morning. Damn near every Republican stays silent.”

Walsh also foreshadowed a blue wave in the 2018 midterm elections because the Democrats “have anger.”

“The Democrats have anger. ‘Crawl naked over broken glass to vote’ anger. And to date, it’s enough. The Democrat vote is way, up in every election since Trump won. Republicans better get angry. Real soon,” he warned.
