The D.C. Jazz Festival, in its seventh year and on its way to becoming a Washington institution, announced its honorary chairs Thursday.
Thomas Hale Boggs Jr., Calvin Cafritz, Julissa Marenco, Gregory O’Dell, Katherine Weymouth and Howard Woolley have been “immensely instrumental in bringing the magic of jazz to Washington, D.C.,” according to DCJF Executive Producer Charles Fishman. As D.C.’s largest music festival, it will host over 100 performances this year between June 1 and 13.
DCJF also presents year-round music programs, promotes music integration in school curricula and supports community efforts to diversify jazz audiences.
