The Washington Area Bicyclist Association has appointed Farthing its new executive director. Farthing, a lawyer and policy analyst, headed the District’s Office of Green Economy for the Department of the Environment. He has a bachelor’s in religious studies from the University of Virginia and graduate degrees in law and public policy from George Washington University. As executive director, Farthing will advocate for safer bicycling conditions and work on increasing the number of bicycling commuters.
