Two men were killed in separate incidents overnight Monday in Baltimore County, bringing the county’s homicide total this year to 24.
In the first attack, police were called to the 7100 block of Security Boulevard behind the Chadwick Shopping Center in Woodlawn Monday at 11:12 p.m. for a report of gunshots.
When the officers arrived, they found Cletus Ronnie Gittens, 25, of Greengage Road in Woodlawn, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to Northwest Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Gittens was awaiting trial in Baltimore County Circuit Court on drug-dealing charges, court records show. He was convicted of gun charges in 2005 and 2006, and drug dealing in 2005.
Later, police were called to the 1000 block of Maiden Choice Lane in Arbutus at 2 a.m. Tuesday for a report of someone bleeding in the roadway.
Officers found Robert Arthur Silver, 48, of Gloria Avenue in Halethorpe, suffering from stab wounds. He was transported to St. Agnes Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives have no immediate suspects or motives in either killing, said Baltimore County police spokesman Cpl. Mike Hill.
The homicides mark the 23rd and 24th this year in Baltimore County, compared with 32 this time last year. Sixteen — or 67 percent — of this year’s homicides have been solved.
Baltimore County, which has a population of nearly 800,000, recorded 36 homicides last year.
