Top lawmakers and Trump will huddle on Supreme Court nominee Tuesday

Sen. Mitch McConnell announced Tuesday he and other top lawmakers will meet with President Trump at the White House to discuss the vacancy on the Supreme Court.

Turmp is expected to make a decision soon on who should replace the late Antonin Scalia.

The majority leader made the following statement on the Senate floor today regarding the meeting at the White House this afternoon:

“The president has invited the Democratic leader, the chairman and ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, and myself to the White House this afternoon to meet with him regarding the Supreme Court vacancy as part of his ongoing consultations with members of the Senate,” McConnell said on the Senate floor. “I appreciate the president soliciting our advice on this important matter.”
