Actress Janine Turner is aligning herself with the Stephen Baldwins and Jon Voights of the world: by taking on a conservative cause.
“I want to do a billboard in Hollywood that just says, ‘I’m a Hollywood conservative and I’m proud of it,’ ” she said. “I’m just so tired of all these people in Hollywood who secretly meet and won’t take a stand,” she added, saying that she thought she had lost one of her most recent roles, on “Friday Night Lights,” for being on the other side of the aisle.
On Monday the actress, known primarily for her role on “Northern Exposure” was a guest at Americans for Tax Reform and discussed her organization Constituting America. The group is trying to get kids hooked on the Constitution at a young age.
“The first thing we need to do is make it hip and cool,” she said. “We need to bring it to the new generation; most of them probably haven’t even heard of the Constitution, they haven’t heard of the Federalist Papers.”
And how does she plan to do this? She said she hopes students will enter a Constitution-themed contest to win cash prizes.
“Money always works,” she said.
