‘You probably said it to be PC’: CNN hosts joke about women being ‘indisputably’ better than men

CNN hosts Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo said they believe women make better leaders than men after former President Barack Obama claimed women are “indisputably” better than their male counterparts.

Lemon, 53, claimed Monday on CNN that he had been making the claim that women are the “more evolved” sex for a long time.

“You probably said it to be PC. Obama said it with integrity,” Cuomo joked in response.

“I think what we’ve learned is the more opportunity you give women, the more they show that what we used to think were masculine advantages don’t really exist,” Cuomo added. “If women are exposed to STEMs, you know, to science and technology, they do just as well or better than men.”

“Women rule the world, and I don’t care if people criticize me,” Lemon said, adding that he grew up in a household of women.

The hosts then blamed men for not giving up power as a reason behind why they hold more positions of power. They later acknowledged that “women are in control” of their shows, with Lemon saying, “Women are running both of our shows.”

Both Lemon and Cuomo hold prime-time slots for CNN, but the network has never had a female prime-time host. CNN does, however, have several slots that are anchored by women but not in prime time.

Obama claimed at a recent private event in Singapore that the world would be better off if only women held political office.

“I’m absolutely confident that for two years, if every nation on earth was run by women, you would see a significant improvement across the board on just about everything … living standards and outcomes,” he said.
