Alabama’s Jeff Sessions was confirmed by the Senate as President Trump’s attorney general Wednesday night by a 52 to 47 vote.
Among Democrats, only West Virginia’s Joe Manchin crossed the aisle to support Sessions while all Republicans supported him. Sessions did not vote for himself, he voted present.
The vote came after a 30 hour procedural debate throughout Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning over Sessions’s qualifications to hold the post.
