Joe Scarborough compares Hillary Clinton to ‘The Great Gatsby’

Perhaps they should start calling her “The Great Clinton.”

Joe Scarborough compared Hillary Clinton to Gatsby of “The Great Gatsby” during Monday’s episode of “Morning Joe,” thereby exposing the likely Democratic presidential candidate’s effort to fool average Americans into believing she’s just like them.

“Hillary Clinton has just as many billionaire friends and has led, over the past 25 years, the most elite, the most insular, the most Gatsby-like existence of any person in the political world today,” Scarborough alleged. “Her friends are at Davos, her friends are at Goldman Sachs.”

Despite her “Gatsby-like” life, Hillary infamously and unconvincingly described her 2001 self as “dead broke” — and, later, not “truly well off” — last summer.

“I mean, Hillary Clinton, when she said we’re not really that rich, you know why she said that?” asked Scarborough, referencing the “dead broke” gaffe. “Because everybody she hangs out with are billionaires.”

The MSNBC host said that he doesn’t “knock” Hillary for her wealth but insisted that it’s obvious Clinton — a former first lady, senator and secretary of State — wouldn’t be “hang[ing] out” like average Americans.
