AMES, Iowa — Iowa voters watched Texas Gov. Rick Perry announce that he is entering the race for the Republican presidential nomination on Saturday under the AARP’s tent at the Ames straw poll.
Roughly three dozen voters gathered to watch as four flat-screen televisions replayed Perry’s announcement. Perry plans to travel to Waterloo, Iowa on Sunday evening.
