ABC’s “This Week” host Christiane Amanpour will be emceeing an evening of speech and song at the Kennedy Center to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks at an event co-hosted by The New Republic magazine.
Amanpour will be joined by three former Secretaries of State, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice and Madeleine Albright. Jazz musician Wynton Marsalis, opera singer Denyce Graves, folk and country singer Emmylou Harris and the National Symphony Orchestra are all slated to perform.
When the event was originally announced both James Taylor and Jay-Z were included in the lineup, but a spokesman for the New Republic says that Taylor will not be appearing while Jay-Z also hasn’t been confirmed. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has also been invited, but she’s not confirmed either.
While the event, which is scheduled for Sept. 8, is a private affair, New Republic readers interested in going can win two tickets by signing up to receive notification that the magazine’s iPad app has landed in iTunes app store.
