Bloomberg campaign sells ‘not a socialist’ hat to supporters in jab at Bernie Sanders

Michael Bloomberg’s campaign is selling anti-socialist memorabilia on the 2020 Democrat’s website.

Bloomberg, an ardent critic of rival presidential contender Sen. Bernie Sanders, is continuing his criticism of socialism, selling hats on his campaign website that read, “Not a socialist.” The hat is priced at $17.76, reflecting the year the American colonists declared independence from the British monarchy.

“Twice as many Americans have a positive impression of capitalism than socialism,” the campaign wrote in the product’s description, citing 2019 Pew Research Center data. “One size fits all of us.”

According to the billionaire’s campaign, all products are “priced at cost to the campaign,” claiming it makes “no profit” from the sales. The hat is currently sold out.

The product is the latest in Bloomberg’s attacks on Sanders, who recently cemented his status as the front-runner for the Democratic Party’s nomination for president.

“The best known socialist in the country happens to be a millionaire with three houses. What did I miss here?” Bloomberg said about Sanders at the ninth Democratic debate.

Bloomberg also claimed his Sanders’s policies were reminiscent of those in failed communist dictatorships, saying: “I can’t think of a way that would make it easier for Donald Trump to get reelected than listening to this conversation. This is ridiculous. We’re not going to throw out capitalism. We tried that. Other countries tried that. It was called communism, and it just didn’t work.”
