Man arrested after crime spree, police chase in D.C.

D.C. police are looking for one man and arrested another after a crime spree in the District Saturday.

The two men carjacked a green Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck with two people in it around 3 p.m. Saturday at the 5000 block of Hunt Street NE. One carjacker pulled out a handgun and struck one of the truck’s occupants with it. The men also took two cell phones from the victims.

NBC Washington, which first reported the carjacking, said one victim was badly beaten and taken to the hospital.

Police suspect the same two men robbed a bicyclist later in the day, on the 2100 block of Second Street NW around 5 p.m. They were driving the green Tacoma truck, police spokesman Officer Anthony Clay said, and took the cyclist’s cell phone.

Police spotted the truck later and chased it to the 800 block of Division Avenue NE, where police arrested one man, but the other got away.

Police are looking for a black man, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, wearing dark clothing.
